For THE MOVE we hired boxes. It’s great, they drop them off and pick them up and you don’t have to worry about what to do with them. The guy who dropped them off had a passion for moving I doubt I will ever see equaled. The way he talked about packing boxes was how great artists talk about creating their masterpieces. It was off putting and inspiring. My favourite thing about encounters with these kinds of people is that they act like a vigorous jolt to the psyche and remind you to enjoy your everyday life. Just because you’re doing something ordinary doesn’t mean it has to be a drag. Remember how exciting the supermarket was when you were a kid? It can be again! The place is a vast spading cave of delicious food stuffs ready for the exploring! Walking to the train station? Try skipping and grinning like a loon because at the end of the day people will either think you’re carefree and fun, or mad and get out of your way. Either way more space for skipping!
It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.
